Post Sound Board
It was good to meet you all last night. Just to let you know that the Sound Board publicity and web site will launch this weekend (fingers crossed) but applications won't be able to be submitted until 10th December (I'm afraid that our ICT team take a while to activate new email accounts). The submissions will be sent to soundboard@liverpool.gov.uk

I can't stress enough that you shouldn't look to this as a primary source for funding as it only offers a small guarantee-against-loss for projects that take risks or are significantly different from what you're already doing. I think the club collective is the really important element in developing the Liverpool scene.

If you need to get in touch here are my contact details. Best wishes,

As mentioned in the meeting, while there is a slim chance of benefitting from this funding it should be used as a good catalyst for developing the organasation and structure of our project and could provide inspiration for developing more creative ideas and hopefully a more vibrant and exciting club scene in 08.

Whatever the outcome, it was really nice to see that somebody was officially representing a culture I thought had long been kicked to the curb by council organisations.

yes, I agree with the above... and can I also add, thanks Gordon for coming along.

I think that the "funding" is a real help, and shows that the council are willling to support these kind of events, but I feel that it needs to be reiterated once again that rather than focusing on how we can split this money up, why not look at it like this - if our events are successful (and I'm assuming that's what we're all aiming for here) then we won't actually receive the £££ anyway, as it will go back in the pot for others. As far as I can see, it's about miminsing risk, and allowing people to be more creative / daring with either bookings, venues, audiences etc.

Lets focus instead on making this thing a success. When we're in our groups, cells, units whatever we decide to call them and whatever genre they may be, we can then choose how / when / why to apply for this money, bounce ideas around with other like minded souls, exchange skills, and keep everything nice and transparent - if we all know what the others are up to, then we have a higher chance of being successful in gaining finance, if it is needed for an event, and the chances of tow similar events competeing for the same ££ are greatly reduced.

Our ICT team have proved me wrong and applications will be able to be taken from this weekend onwards. The web site will be on liverpool08.com from Saturday and it will contain the application form and the guidelines. Best,

Gordon

The Sound Board is now up and running, I'll be putting posters up in venues this weekend. Meanwhile here's the url:

http://www.liverpool08.com/LiverpoolArts/Music/TheSoundBoard/index.asp

It's not very catchy I know. If you're trying to tell anyone about it they should go to liverpool08.com then click on "Liverpool Arts" at the top of the page then click on "Music" in the left hand section of the page.

May all your applications be successful

Gordon
